Cart Shipping Goals

The shipping bar (Shipping Goals) shows a tiered rewards progress bar in the cart. As customers add products, they unlock up to four milestones: Free Shipping, a Discount or a Free Gift. Each milestone has its own threshold, title, icon and progress text, and a free gift product can be added to the cart automatically once its threshold is reached.

The same bar appears in the cart drawer and on the cart page. It is a strong lever for a higher average order value (AOV): customers always see how far they are from the next reward.

Where To Find It

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Edit theme on your Momentum theme.
2. Open Theme settings (gear icon) and select Cart.
3. Scroll to Shipping Bar - General and Bar milestones.

To show the bar in the cart drawer, the Cart Drawer section also needs a Shipping Goal block. The block itself has no settings; it simply points to Theme settings → Cart.

Settings

Shipping Bar - General

• Enable shipping bar: shows or hides the bar in the cart drawer and on the cart page.
• Progress bar color: fill color of the bar before a milestone is reached (default #000).
• Icon and text color: color of milestone icons and labels before they are reached, plus the status message (default #000000).
• Completed color: bar fill, reached icons, labels and the "unlocked" status message (default #319071). This replaces the green that used to be hard-coded, so you can now match it to your brand.
• All rewards unlocked message: text shown once every milestone has been reached (default ✓ All rewards unlocked).

Bar milestones (1st to 4th milestone)

Each of the four milestones has the same settings. Fields only appear when they apply to the current choice.

• Enable: turns the milestone on or off. A disabled milestone, or one without an amount, is not shown on the bar.
• Reward type: Free Shipping, Discount or Free Gift.
• Amount: cart value that unlocks the milestone. Use round numbers without currency symbols or letters (e.g. 100). Milestones appear on the bar in their order (1st to 4th), so give the 1st milestone the lowest amount and increase it from there.
• Custom title: the title shown on the bar (e.g. Free Shipping, 20% OFF). For a Free Gift you can leave it empty to use the product or variant name.
• Threshold icon: where the milestone icon comes from:
  • Icon: a Google Material icon, set in Google icon (e.g. local_shipping, sell, percent, card_giftcard; see fonts.google.com/icons).
  • Custom image: upload your own icon in Custom image.
  • Product image: uses the image of the Free Gift product (or its variant).
• Gift product: only used for the Free Gift reward type. This product is added to the cart automatically when the milestone is unlocked. It must be in stock, or allow selling when out of stock.
• Progress text: message shown while the milestone has not been reached yet. Placeholders:
  • ||amount||: the amount still missing (e.g. "€23.00").
  • ||label||: the milestone title.
  • Default: You're ||amount|| Away From ||label||

If the title is empty: the theme falls back to a translated default title: "Free Shipping", "Free Gift" or "Discount". For a Free Gift with a gift product, the product name is used instead. You can change these defaults per language under Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content (keys sections.cart.milestone_free_shipping, sections.cart.milestone_free_gift, sections.cart.milestone_discount).

Below each milestone the amount is shown as "Spend €60.00" (German: "ab 60,00 €"). This text is translatable too (key sections.cart.milestone_spend, is the milestone amount).

The bar ends at the last milestone: when all goals are reached, the bar is filled exactly up to the last icon.

How Free Gifts Work

• When the cart value reaches a Free Gift milestone, the gift product is added to the cart automatically and shown with the price "Free" (translated).
• Gifts do not count toward the progress. Only regular products count, so a gift can never unlock itself or the next milestone.
• Gift lines have no quantity selector. The gift is always added once.
• If the cart drops below the threshold again (for example because a product was removed), the gift is removed from the cart automatically.
• A gift that has not been unlocked yet is hidden in the cart.

Upgrading From The Old Shipping Bar

Earlier Momentum versions used a different structure: fixed sections for Free Shipping, Discount, Discount 2 and Free Gift (cart_free_* settings), a "Bar milestone order" selector and a "Goal type" option. These settings have been replaced by the four milestones described above.

Shopify does not carry your old values over to the new settings automatically. After updating:

1. Open Theme settings → Cart and check every milestone (Enable, Reward type, Amount, Custom title, icon, Gift product, Progress text).
2. Re-enter your amounts, titles and gift product(s).
3. Check the colors. Completed color now controls the green that was previously fixed.
4. Test in the storefront: add products until each milestone unlocks, then remove products and make sure the gift disappears again.

Tips

• Space your milestones so each next reward feels reachable (e.g. 100 / 200 / 300 / 400).
• The bar only shows and motivates. Free shipping rates, discounts and promotions must also be set up in Shopify (Shipping settings, Discounts or your discount app) so they are actually applied at checkout.
• Keep progress texts short. They are shown in a narrow drawer on mobile.
