Fit Indicator Block

The Fit Indicator is a 5-step scale for the product page that answers sizing questions at a glance - for apparel typically:

Fit: runs small ————●———— runs large

It reduces returns and sizing doubts without needing a review app. Add it via Product Section → Add block → Fit Indicator (you can add several, e.g. one for fit and one for fabric weight) and drag it near the size selector or size chart.

Styles

• Segments: 5 bars, filled up to the value - uses all 5 labels.
• Line: a thin track with a sliding marker - uses labels 1, 3 and 5 (left / center / right).

Value (1-5)

• Fixed: One value for every product, set with a slider - fine if your whole catalog fits the same way.
• Product metafield (recommended): Each product gets its own value.
  1. Shopify Admin → Settings → Custom data → Products → Add definition, e.g. "Fit" (integer or single line text), values 1-5.
  2. Fill it in per product.
  3. In the theme editor, set Value source to "Product metafield", then click the dynamic source icon on the "Metafield value" field and pick your metafield.

A product without a value shows no indicator at all - the block hides itself including its spacing, so unrated products stay clean. Values outside 1-5 are clamped.

Labels and colors

All 5 labels are free text (labels 2 and 4 only appear in the segments style). Colors are separate per style: filled/empty bars for segments, track/marker for the line, plus title and label color.

Typography and size

Title and label sizes separately for desktop and mobile, maximum width of the scale (default 500px), block margins.

Honest use

Rate fit from real knowledge - your own measurements, supplier size specs, or actual customer feedback. A scale that contradicts the customer's experience creates the returns it was meant to prevent.
